Roses associated with perfumery and beauty are preserved by de Lacey in works of art on the finest silk,
The inspiration for the designs is organic form and the influence of patterns in nature. The process begins with a rose grown in the de Lacey Rose Garden.
As well as working in watercolour, acrylics and pen & ink, Charlie de Lacey is also a skilled digital artist. Charlie draws each rose using a digital pen free hand. Charlie's skill is in the artistry; design of the pattern; and her expertise in digital media.

Charlie designing the 2024 collection of silk scarves inspired by Irish butterflies. The design is hand drawn digitally using a number of layers.
Our partner in the production of the scarves is Beckford Silk who are specialists in printing art on silk for Galleries. They have developed their expertise over three generations and use dyes specifically designed for silk. For our Artistry in Silk range of silk scarves digital printing is used to print the design on to the silk. This method is favoured due to the large colour palette of the design, which would be limited by screen printing. Following further processing the scarves are skilfully finished by hand with rolled hems.
In the Devoré process a monochrome design is etched into velvet by hand using screen printing, exposing the net beneath, which is then dyed producing a semi-transparent luxurious finish, This is a highly skilled process.
